About Sanatanshala
Sanatanshala is a free website of Hindu devotional texts: chalisas, aartis, stotras, mantras and longer paths such as the Sunderkand, each with its meaning in English and Hindi, together with festival and vrat dates.
Why it exists
Most devotional texts online are copied from site to site, often with typing errors, and rarely say where they came from. We wanted pages you can recite from with confidence and check for yourself: every verse text is compared across several independent publications, and every page shows its sources.
Who runs it
Sanatanshala is an independent website published from India. It is not connected to any temple, sampradaya, institution or company, and it does not sell pujas, astrology or products.
Much of the preparation is done with software and with the help of AI (Claude, by Anthropic), under rules described on our editorial policy page. No page has been reviewed by a priest, pandit or academic scholar, and we do not claim otherwise. Where traditions differ, we say so.
What you will find
- Verse texts in Devanagari and Roman script, with line-by-line meanings.
- Meaning pages that explain the most recited texts in more depth.
- Pages for deities, festivals and vrats, with dates for the coming years.
- A daily panchang, once our calculations have passed their checks for each city.
